Into the Unknown

How does one start writing their first post? You know the one...the one that set forth into motion the unheralded greatness. The obvious answer is by opening your blog account, create new post and type away. Well, that's easier said than done for me. I'm sitting here desperately trying to post the most awesome, awe inspiring, press stopping blog post of all times. But then I thought to myself, 'Self, who the hell is gonna care anyways?'.

I mean really...who ever reads someones first post and thinks OMG? Your favorite author had to start somewhere right? He or she just didn't have their first attempt at literary greatness automatically become a bestseller. They had to start from the basics and evolve into a novelist worthy of nobility.

Anticipation of a daily bloggers following (hmm), failure, mediocrity, grammar/spelling errors (Ha, that's a given with me), self-satisfaction, finding time, finding stories to blog, etc... So much anticipation will cause my blood pressure to rise. All the stress associated with blogging is unbelievable. But then again, its all undue stress caused by venturing into the unknown.

I can totally relate with you here!
I had tried to create a blog once before. The first time, I got really frustrated because for some reason, I felt like I just HAD to have all the bells and whistles applied and in working order. I couldn't figure out how to add my favorite links. Spent hours trying to figure it out.

Then I had a bad case of performance anxiety. I would sit in front of my monitor waiting for my muse to appear. Eventually I just said, "oh f.... it, who the hell is going to read this anyway?"
Quick as a flash, I felt totally secure in the satisfaction of just being content to read all the other literary offerings out there. No biggie. Clicking the "delete blog" button was easy.

When Acidman passed away, I felt compelled to share my thoughts and post my favorite blog posts of his. On another blog they were having a "carnival" in his honor and so I emailed the blogger with some of my favorite blog posts but when she wrote back and said, "sorry I can only post one but if you want to give me the link to your blog where you can show as many as you like, that would be better"...something to that effect. I understood and that's when my muse gave me a little nudge and I found myself clicking on the blogger site to try this endeavor again.

Not sure how long I will stick with it but I am going to try. I am not going to worry about all the other stuff like you mentioned and just go with the flow.

You have a great start here. I will check in again another time. Thanks for dropping by my place. :-)

Welcome. I will keep reading. I will give you the advice I got from Acidman (funny how he keeps appearing) when I started my tiny blog: "Write EVERY day. Clicking on the same unchanging page every day will drive away readers." Good luck!

Thanks for the link!
